Thank you to all of the teams who made the first year of Do Good Columbia one for the books! We are spurring positive change in Columbia, S.C.

Team “Earth Wind and Water” was selected as the winner of Do Good Columbia's inaugural year. They pitched a vision for “Water Works Park,” a transformation of the amphitheater and surrounding area at Riverfront Park into a space for events and history.  By turning an existing facility into a catering kitchen, creating a boardwalk for easier access to the river’s edge, and improving lighting and signage, this will become a premier destination for events and leisure activities. The old water works building will include a historical timeline of the area. To attract artists and art lovers, Water Works Park will include artist-painted picnic tables, permanent art easels, and sculptures inspired by the site’s history as a textile mill and hydroelectric plant. With John S. and James L. Knight Foundation’s Donor Advised Fund at the Central Carolina Community Foundation, $50,000 in seed money will help this idea move forward into the implementation phase. EngenuitySC will support the team as it refines its ideas and brings together its partners and support systems.
